The countdown begins for Crash Test Theatre (CTT) launching its first 10-minute play event in just nine days!
Running right now in several Australian cities as Crash Test Drama for over a decade, The Writers Centre Singapore has brought the unique play writing and performance platform to our shores. According to CTT Coordinator Shana Yap believes this is an incredible opportunity for budding and seasoned talent to develop local playwriting, directing and acting skills. “CTT is a platform for everyone, regardless of theatre training and experience to address current concerns and issues that affect us.” Shana also says that CTT is an open platform to ‘crash test’ new work. Teamed up during an afternoon workshop, writers, directors and actors will then present before an audience. If you are interested but can’t attend the workshop in the afternoon, join the audience and enjoy an early evening of dramatised play reads. The performances will be followed by a post-plays discussion and a chance to improvise ideas for the next CTT event in August. “It’s gonna be a wild day of pure creativity and fun collaboration,” Shana says. CTT will be held at the Writers Centre Singapore’s black box in the Aliwal Arts Centre. Crash Test teams will also get a chance to win cash prizes, plus there will be featured prizes for Best Director and Best Actor. The best two plays performed each month will be featured in the finals as fully staged productions during Lit Up Asia Festival (Oct-13) at the Flexible Space, Lasalle College of the Arts. The best production will win the grand prize of $1000, with prizes for Best Director and Actor as well. Submission Details Writers Play Submission Deadline: (extended to) 25 July, 2359 hours.
